Pre-School Sources Level

Coastal Sound Sources do not perform during their pre-school years. Performance opportunities begin at age 6 & up in the Novisingers. The pre-school children will present a year-end “show & tell” performance for parents, grandparents and friends as well as members of CSMA training/apprentice levels in late May or early June. The mini performance will take place at École des Pionniers at a regular Tuesday session. The children will be asked to wear their CSMA navy T-Shirt for this event.

Coastal Sound pre-school Sources children are invited to attend any Coastal Sound Music Academy sponsored concert free when accompanied by a paid adult. Parents will be informed of CSMA Concert event dates as they arise.

CSMA General Guidelines Dress Code

When the CSMA Choirs travel to rehearsals or other special events outside our regular rehearsal venues, students will be asked to wear either the Travel Casual Uniform or the Performance Casual Uniform. The uniform requirements for these special events will be announced in your email bulletin or on the chorister website page. These special events would include workshops, fundraisers, stage/tech rehearsals, festivals, etc. You are helping to identify Coastal Sound Music Academy when you wear the uniform. We ask our Children’s Concert Choir to set an example for the younger CSMA Singers in exhibiting appropriate behavior and apparel standards established in our general guidelines dress code.

The general guidelines for casual dress code on tour, or at our own rehearsals are to be conservative and not move into the arena of “attention seeking apparel”. There are several clear messages, which are important to observe in keeping with our philosophy of harmony and respect:

  • No “aggressive” apparel, i.e. army fatigues, muscle shirts, chains etc.
  • No “suggestive”apparel, i.e. crop shirts, spaghetti straps, etc.
  • No “attention seeking” styles, i.e. pink hair,,nose or eyebrow rings, visible tattoos etc.
  • We will remove hats in buildings and concert venues
  • When in doubt about something…..ask your lead chaperone or the Executive Director.

Please keep in mind; these guidelines are not intended to restrict your dress code choices at times away from the choir, when you are not representing C.S.M.A. The Academy’s dress code guidelines are not long timelines. For example: tour may be three to ten days, or a rehearsal three to four hours. This is not much time, and yet, when we go anywhere as a group, the understanding of the dress code image is very important. Often promotional and marketing photographs are taken at these events.

Our Coastal Sound Music Academy dress code guidelines are one of those “building respect and dignity” tools!

For further C.S.M.A. policy guidelines including student audience and tour behavioral expectations refer to the Coastal Sound Music Academy “Chorister Only” web page at: www.coastalsoundmusic.com
