Youth Choir
Sing. It makes you happy.
The Coastal Sound Youth Choir is known for it's creative presentation of choral repertoire. The singers work to embody each piece of music they perform - either through creative staging and movement, or simply by singing with their whole body and soul. They try to create performances that really take the audience on a journey, so that they feel they have experienced something together with the choir – both emotionally and artistically. There is a palpable energy at every performance and an overwhelming joyfulness that audiences can sense. Repertoire spans continents and centuries – from Brazil to Finland and the Renaissance to Coldplay. Extremely enthusiastic and very energetic, this close-knit group of singers loves to connect with and learn from other choirs. Over the past few years they have enjoyed workshops and collaborative performances with Corazon Youth Choir (Nelson, BC), PRIMA Youth Choir (Victoria, BC), and Crystal Young Men and Women’s Choirs (San Francisco, CA). The Youth Choir performs often within the community and tours every second year. As well, this ensemble enjoys being a "host choir" for the biannual Coastal Sound International Choral Festival, where hundreds of singers come together from around the world for a week of performance and sharing. This season, the Coastal Sound Youth Choir is excited to be sharing the stage with The Nylons and Musica Intima, and Nikki Janofsky - as well as hosting their invitational youth choir mini-festival, "Synergy", held in May of each year.
